Solid Carbide Endmills
  • the material to cut

  • the desired shape of the machined part

  • the volume of material to be machined and other specific requirements .

  • Selection of end mill for the application on hand is dictated by many factors. Our product catalogue gives general guideline in the selction of endmills and the information given hereunder will serve as guideline.

  • Use largest diameter and shortest length end mill, the process can permit to get best results .

  • Ensure rigid setup of the work piece with emphasis on the best alignment between TOOL+TOOL HOLDER+MACHINE SPINDLE .

  • Use right speed and feed .

  • Use sharp tools and ensure copious continuous flow of coolant .

Alloy Steel upto 60HRC 50-100 2-20
Stainless Steel- Austenitic 200-300 2-40
Stainless Steel- Martensitic 300-400 3-60
Tool Steel 175-250 2-40
Titanium Alloys 100-200 2-50

  • The feed rate indicated cover sizes from 1/8" to 1". Apply minimum for smaller sizes and maximum for larger sizes.

  • For maximum endmill life, minimum tool wear, and heavy depth of cut use lower speed.

  • Higher speed can be adopted whereever light cuts, better surface finish and higher production rate is required * Coated end mills (TiN,TiCN,TiAlN) can be run at higher speed anf feed.

  • Lower feed rate is desirable when small and slender end mill is used.Slot milling and finishing cuts also need lighter feed rate.

  • Higher feed rate is adopted under following conditions. Use of roughing end mills, shortand coarse tooth end mills, component material with good machinabilty.

  • The recommendations apply to solid carbide endmills 1/8"& over .
